APPLYING FOR A SCHOLARSHIP

Applications are being accepted for the 2010-2011 academic year January 1, 2010 thru March 31, 2010

CASEY FAMILY SCHOLARS SCHOLARSHIP
FOSTER CARE TO SUCCESS SCHOLARSHIP

These scholarships are awarded based on a combination of merit and need, and funding levels are determined based on cost of attendance and other resources.

Application Process:

1. Click here to complete the online application - the application begins January 1, 2010 and closes midnight March 31, 2010.

2. You must also complete paperwork which you will receive via email upon successful submission of the online application - the postmark deadline is April 15, 2010.

3. You must submit ONE of the following along with the paperwork packet - the deadline is April 15, 2010.

Written verification of foster care status from a social service agency or through court paperwork
Copies of both parents' death certificates
Copy of legal guardianship papers (must show you were placed in legal guardianship AFTER age 16)
Copy of adoption papers (must show that you were adopted AFTER age 16)

Applicants must...

1. Have been in foster care for one consecutive year at the time of their 18th birthday OR have been adopted or taken into legal guardianship out of foster care or upon the death of their parents after their 16th birthday OR have lost both parents to death before the age of 18 and not been subsequently adopted or taken into legal guardianship.

2. Be enrolled in or accepted into an accredited post-secondary program at the undergraduate level (university, college, community college or vocational/technical institute.)

3. Be under the age of 25 on March 31, 2010.

4. Have been in foster care or orphaned while living in the United States. U.S. citizenship is not required.

Many (but not all) young people who are eligible for OFA Scholarship funding are also eligible for federal Education and Training Voucher, or Chafee dollars. Visit www.statevoucher.org to find out more about this program.

GRADUATE SCHOLARSHIP

Applications are being accepted for the 2010-11 CASEY FAMILY GRADUATE SCHOLARSHIP January 1, 2010 through March 31, 2010

This highly prestigious, merit-based scholarship provides $10,000 for post-graduate study in any field. It is renewable for one year.

Application Process:

1. Click here to complete the online application – the application begins January 1, 2010 and closes midnight March 31, 2010.

*** On the SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION PAGE of the application you must click YES that you are applying for a GRADUATE SCHOLARSHIP***

2. You must also complete paperwork which you will receive via email upon successful submission of the online application – the postmark deadline is March 31, 2010. You must write “GRADUATE SCHOLARSHIP” in large letters on the envelope.

Other requirements are the same as for the undergraduate scholarship with the following exceptions:

1. If you received an OFA/Casey undergraduate scholarship, you do not need to submit proof of eligibility.

2. You must be enrolled in or accepted into an accredited post-graduate program including Masters, Ph.D., M.D. or J.D.

3. You must be under the age of 28 on March 31, 2010.
