You Can Help
The RED SCARF FUND FOR FOSTER YOUTH provides emergency aid because life happens and foster youth don’t have the safety net most people call ‘family.’
Red Scarf aid has paid for:
· medical bills
· eyeglasses
· musical instrument repairs
· new tires to pass inspection
· and sadly, funeral expenses
All the things a traditional scholarship fund doesn’t cover, all the things a parent would – our young people count on the Red Scarf Fund to help them.

Notes of Gratitude
"I passed my honors oral defense, and will be graduating with honors in my department! Thank you so much for supporting my research! I wouldn't have been able to get this far without OFA's help and your emotional support during the tough times. I hope our paths will cross in the future -- thank you so much!"
-- Theresa, graduate student at Columbia University, New York City
"It is inspiring to see how you all not only TALK about making a difference in others' lives but you are LIVING it and MAKING it happen. Thank you for going beyond the expectations for all of us in and out of the system."
-Kayla, Patten College, Alabama
OFA Announces its newest initiative Foster Care to Success.
In partnership with the Child Welfare League of America, the National Foster Care Coalition and the League of Dreams, OFA will drive a national service movement that connects caring and committed volunteers with foster youth in their communities in order to provide these young people with opportunities for personal, academic, and social enrichment. Foster Care to Success alliances also have been established with other national volunteer programs, including America’s Promise, ServiceNation, DoSomething, and the President’s Volunteer Service Award Program. One Student's Story: Susan Zaghool
OFA scholarship recipient Susan Zaghlool's has faced more hardship in her young life than many of use could ever imagine. "I didn't have a family and I had aged out of the Butler County foster care system" Susan said.
Susan Zaghlool should have been ecstatic. She was graduating in May from LECOM School of Pharmacy in Erie, Pa., with a Doctorate of Pharmacy, the culmination of four long years of work and the realization of a dream. But instead, the night before the big day, she found herself sobbing, engulfed by all her old foster-child fears and the familiar loneliness. Everyone else had family. Who would be there for her?
"My dad took me out of school when I was 12 years old. This made me feel hopeless about my future."
