Talk about a FOOT in the DOOR…

On Thursday evening, May 31, I went over to Catholic University for my first encounter with the 22 young adults that OFA has brought to D.C. for its Summer Internship Program. In a word, the kids were fantastic, motivated, and articulate. Okay, that’s three words.

OFA’s National Events Director, Annalisa Assaadi, has worked tirelessly to get this intensive six-week internship program organized. Each kid is working in a great setting — prominent Congressional offices on Capitol Hill (e.g. Hillary Clinton, Elizabeth Dole), as well as corporate offices, law firms, and non-profit agencies. I don’t think you could buy the kind of workplace experience they’re getting for any price.

We’ll be bringing in a video crew toward the end of June to interview a number of these students in their office settings and talk to their supervisors and co-workers. The momentum of this program is strong, and you can bet your bottom dollar it will have an impact on these kids’ lives for years to come.
